After intermission at Germain Arena Sunday night, the crowd broke the Guinness World Record of the former longest duck call by blowing thousands of them for two minutes, a time required by the Guinness World Records crew, the Naples Daily News says.

The Robertsons, of A&E’s reality TV hit “Duck Dynasty,” joined about 4,000 fans for a Salvation Army of Southwest Florida fundraiser titled “The Call: Faith, Family & Facial Hair” in Estero.

Role Models

Stacey Ryan says she attended a show Sunday night starring Duck Dynasty cast members with her 16-year-old son because he enjoys the popular TV show.

“I think they’re good role models for the kids,” said Ryan, of Cape Coral, wearing a navy T-shirt featuring a picture of Duck Dynasty men with the words “Duck Nation.” “My son watches the show and I’m glad he does.”

Just Like Any Other Family

Willie Robertson, CEO of Duck Commander, the Louisiana-based duck call company at the show’s center, and his brother Jase took the stage just after 7 p.m. to an enthusiastic crowd. Jase Robertson discussed how they’re no different from any other family, with arguments and bickering that never lasts.

“In the end, we forgive each other and we gather around the table together and pray to an almighty God together,” Jase Robertson said.

The Show

Several bands also performed, including country group The Farm and the rock band Switchfoot, followed by Cole Robertson singing and playing guitar shortly before an intermission.

Others joined Willie, Cole and Jase onstage.

Willie’s wife, Korie; Jase’s wife, Missy, and their two other children — Reed, 19 and Mia, 10; and Uncle Si, a popular fixture on the show, who entered from the back of the arena and high-fived audience members on the way to the stage—in typical Uncle Si fashion.

Controversy

Willie and Jase’s father, Phil Robertson, who founded Duck Commander, did not attend. It was Phil who drew controversy for his comments in the January issue of GQ magazine, saying homosexuality is a sin. A&E suspended the show temporarily but his family stood by the patriarch.

And so did members of the Southwest Florida crowd.

“It was great for him to stand his ground,” said Matthew Sturdivent, 22, of Naples.
