More Jobs for Estero Workers
As Hertz makes it’s plans to move into the Estero area, workers and employees are excited about the opportunity of job growth and economic increase. Local employees are expected to outnumber the New Jersey transplants at the rental car giant’s new corporate headquarters in Estero. [Source]
Hertz plans on hiring 300 to 400 local Floridians and transplant about the same amount of workers from the current headquarters in Park Ridge New Jersey. Currently the company has accepted 2300 resumes from local job fairs and Hertz spokesman Richard Broome will expect local residents to comprise the majority of the employees working at the headquarters building. Construction will begin next year and the headquarters, costing over $68 million, is scheduled to open in 2015.
Several current employees have declined to move simply because they don’t want to uproot their families, so those new positions will need to be filled by local employees. Broome says that the “trailing spouse issue is an area that Hertz plans on putting some effort into.” He understands that many people are not moving because they either have a spouse with a good paying job or they don’t want to pull their kids out of school. There’s also a stigma that only retirees are in Florida and that there are no other jobs but that is simply untrue. Hertz is committed to providing better job potentials for Southwest Florida. Southwest Florida works with Hertz spouses. Extended families or the jobs of spouses have held some Hertz workers back from relocating. Broome has also promoted the benefits of living in Lee County and in the Southwest Florida area and hopes that the majority of New Jersey transplants will consider Estero is a potential for a job and family growth.
