I see lots of articles and hear a lot of information from fellow real estate agents about trying to get buyers preapproved with the mortgage lender before even looking at homes. The situation can really go either way and whether you talk to a mortgage lender first or you talk to a real estate agent first, the process can be different and yet the same depending on your finances and what type of home you’re looking for.
For the Estero real estate area you’re welcome to look at homes on our website for the entire area with any price range and with lots of different amenities but when it comes time to purchasing one of those you may need to speak to a lender that deals with the type of home you’re buying. In which case finding the home you want first would be the smarter route.

Alternatively, looking at homes before you know how much home you can afford can set yourself up for disappointment and frustration. Finding a home, going through the home buying process and preapproval steps only to discover you can’t afford that home can leave you in despair and frustrated.
It certainly can’t hurt to talk to a real estate agent before looking at homes and even before preapproval.
