Real Estate Agents Get Bad Rap Like Used Car Salesman

In a recent article by CNBC.com about getting your financial ducks in a row before buying a home, the agent/writer talks reality when it comes to a declining home market, property values, interest rates and your finances. But that’s not the interesting part; the interesting part comes in the comments where the general public absolutely bashed CNBC and real estate agents in general. Are we really getting that bad a wrap? It seems that real estate agents have the reputation of a used car salesman or worse. Are we no better than a desperate lawyer are chasing after an ambulance?Real Estate Agents Get Bad Rap Like Used Car Salesman

According to one post, “the lies just keep on flowing! Look back at the first bubble and you will see the same jargon put out by this media outlet!”

We don’t feel that the media is necessarily trying to deceive the public but rather offer information and a generalizations on the current market.

Yes, we’ve all seen those real estate agents that even might carry the Realtor® name lie, be deceptive, and underhanded or completely drop the ball. This is true in any profession. Any agent, employee, or employer that is not dedicated to the benefits and needs of their client is going to create discourse and a poor reputation for the entire industry. But just because there is one bad apple, we shouldn’t throw out the lot.

We truly want our agents to pay attention to our clients, give them the home they looking for, and help them make smart financial moves. Reputation is everything and when it comes to a brokerage, every agent is dedicated to making sure our clients have the best possible experience.

When it comes to selling a home, getting the home sold for as much profit as possible is the goal. Sellers don’t want to sit on the market for months and they don’t want to give away their home. They need an honest agent or Realtor® who tells the truth about property values, how to get the home sold, and reasons it may not be selling.

When it comes to buying a home, not every market is ideal. Not every person should be buying a home and if the numbers don’t add up, make sense for the future, or display a smart financial move, home buying may just not be the right option.

We don’t want to have the stigma of a slimy, underhanded professional always trying to get the general public to do what we want them to do. Although we cannot speak for every brokerage out there, Domain Realty Group has a solid reputation for working for our clients, with our clients, and side-by-side to make sure their goals are met.
