Southwest Florida is Sunny and Charitable

Posted:

Southwest Florida is not only known for its sunshine, but it’s also a hotspot for charitable organizations.

The 11th annual Shadow Wood Golf Tournament raised more than $210,000, according to this article in the Naples Daily News, surpassing last year’s amount by a cool $50,000.

The tournament has been a tradition for the Shadow Wood Country Club since its inauguration in 2003.

The event, hosted for the second year by the Shadow Wood Charitable Foundation, exceeded the $200,000 goal and benefited the foundation’s supporting charities: Café of Life, Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties, The Salvation Army, Feeding the 5000, New Horizons of Southwest Florida, the Interfaith Charities of South Lee Food Pantry and the Bonita Springs Assistance Office.

The two events on the Shadow Wood South Golf Course drew in 176 golfers and 208 guests attended the gala dinner.

A pair of tickets to the Academy of Country Music Awards, which sold for $5,000, was one of the top auction items at the evening banquet.

FineMark National Bank & Trust returned as a major sponsor, joining U.S. Trust and McCaw & Clegg Wealth Management – UBS, in addition to a number of individuals, according to the article.

Shadow Wood Country Club, 22801 Oakwilde Blvd., is a private, member-owned club in Estero at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Coconut Road.
